Divorce can be simple. A divorce can be completed in as little as 2 months. Only 4 documents are needed in most divorces: (1) File a complaint or lawsuit asking a Court to grant a divorce. (2) The parties need to file a marital dissolution agreement (MDA) which clearly divides the assets and debts. (3) If children are involved then a Parenting Plan is needed which indicates child support and the times each parent takes care of the children. (4) Finally, to complete a divorce the parties need the Judge to sign a Final Order approving the divorce and approving both the MDA and the parenting plan mentioned above.
Divorces can also be expensive with issues stretching out for years if the parties fail to agree on division of retirement accounts, alimony, child support and parenting plans.
